What's up with the boys and girls only in Math and English why bother. I think that guys will try harder if girls are in the class because we will try to show them we are smart to impress them .Plus if we separate classes they might eventually split schools and how would you feel then.Happy?Sad?Angry? At loss?Empty?

Hi Dylan,
ReplyDeleteI am interested in your point about how boys would try harder to impress girls. The research shows that boys actually don't try, in case they make a mistake in front of the girls (and for there to be learning, you need to be willing to take risks, and risk getting things wrong). You must be an exception!
I don't think we have any intention of splitting schools (at least, not while you are at school!). Some people do recommend separate schools (eg. Dr. Leonard Sax, whose work influenced my thinking), but I think the public educations system is pretty committed to co-ed schools.
Did you post this comment to my blog, and if not, please cut and paste and post it to mine so I can give you credit for it.
